Parish Opticians is delighted to announce the winners of a competition involving Birchgrove Primary School, which invited pupils to design a brand new lens cleaning cloth. The competition, which was open to all pupils in years 5 and 6 at the school, saw over 120 fantastic entries and encouraged creativity and artistic expression while promoting the importance of eye care.
The winning design has been professionally produced and will be distributed to patients of Parish Opticians, giving one talented student the chance to see their artwork in everyday use across the community.
Kate Evans, Optometrist Director of Parish Opticians, shared her enthusiasm for the project:
"We’re incredibly proud to have worked with Birchgrove Primary School on this competition. Supporting our local community is at the heart of everything we do, and it’s wonderful to be able to give young people a platform to showcase their creativity."
She added:
"This initiative is about more than just designing a lens cloth—it’s about building connections, encouraging confidence, and celebrating the talent we have right here in our community."
The competition ran through the Easter holidays, with the winning design announced at a special presentation event at the school.
All of the entries were displayed in the window at the practice which is based on Caerphilly Road in Cardiff and the team were so impressed by the quality of the designs that they have had a number made up to be on permanent display in the practice.Parish Opticians looks forward to their patients having these fantastic lens cloths, as well as continuing to support local initiatives that bring the community together.
